puppyRoom.isOnline is a digital remaster of a previous artwork by the artist, puppy room (2024). Both pieces frame the viewer as a voyeur, looking into the room of a half-human-half-puppy, which acts as a stand-in or “avatar” for the artist. Like its predecessor, puppyRoom.isOnline digs into the tension of childlike playfulness against the perverse impulses that emerge when entering adulthood. There are a plurality of themes embodied in the artwork’s materiality; growing up in the digital age, dichotomy in identity, disjointed sexual maturity from a trauma-informed lens, and the confessional inclusion of specific substances the artist had been addicted to.



how was it made?

3D scans of the rubber duck, cigarette box, pill bottle, the artist dressed as a puppy, and the "pillhead" character were created via scaniverse for mobile, auto rigged in mixamo, and touched up in blender. the blinkies were created on blinkies.cafe, and brought into blender as a mesh plane. the same process was used for the condom, the vape screen and the floor. the vape model was obtained from sketchfab and retextured in blender. everything moving in the foreground was animated and rendered in blender, then brought into TouchDesigner as a movie file. it was chroma keyed and then overlayed on a webcam feed that would displace a photo of the windows xp background in response to live movement.
